NewsMy Morning Jacket man for New Orleans benefitJim James of My Morning Jacket, Damian Kulash of Ok Go and The Indigo Girls have all been confirmed to for 'Musicians Bringing Home Musicians II' a show to benefit the rebuilding of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. The acts will take to the stage on May 27 at Tiptina's Uptown in New Orleans, and in addition to their own slots, are expected to contribute to each other's performances. Proceeds fron the event will benefit Sweet Home New Orleans, a coalition of non-profit organizations that helps find affordable housing in New Orleans and provides rental assistance for Katrina displaced musicians, Mardi Gras performers and other traditional New Orleans artists. "It's a great place for musicians to focus on community, both because we owe so much to that city for a century of incredible music, and because the local musicians there need our help right now," said Damian Kulash. Last year's 'Musicians Bringing Musicians Home' featured performances by Steve Earle and Mike Mills of REM. 'Musicians Bringing Home Musicians II' will take place May 27. MIA cancels Glastonbury appearance MIA has reportedly cancelled her performance at the Glastonbury Festival this weekend. The London rapper was set to play the Park stage on Friday (June 22) at 9:30 pm, but will no longer perform and has not given a reason for her cancellation, reports the Guardian. This follows MIA's cancellation of her performance at the Sasquatch festival in the US last month. No replacement for MIA at Glastonbury has yet been confirmed. The rapper is still set to play several festival dates this summer, including the Siren Festival in New York and Lollapalooza in Chicago, as previously announced. |
